Eat Your Breakfast

Many studies have shown that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast may prevent weight gain and could even help reduce body weight. A dietary study in the North America has recruited 50,660 adults with an average age over 30 years; about 2,261 of patients are people with diabetes. Changes in meal frequency, time and body mass index (BMI) were measured. The study found that subjects who ate breakfast had reduced BMI than those who didn’t; subjects whose main meal was breakfast had reducing BMI compared to subjects whose main meal was dinner in the evening. The Traditional Chinese Medicine advocates eating rich breakfast, fulfilling lunch and less dinner, which is similar to the results from the North American dietary study, which also advocated the importance of breakfast and suggested treating breakfast as the main meal of the day. The study also suggests that by not eating snacks and maintaining fast from end of dinner to the next morning, the longer the fasting time, the more BMI will decrease.
